In February we held two great events. Since we now have a state of the art TV and sound system, we held our first annual Super Bowl Party on Sunday, February 4. Depending on your team we had an excellent time and the TV and sound system worked excellent. On February 10 we hosted a Wine and Cheese Party that was attended by approximately 50-70 people all who requested to know when we would do this again. As for upcoming events, on Wednesday, March 7, there is the Annual Italian Day at the UW. High school students from throughout the state who are taking Italian come to the Italian Language School at the UW and have competitions throughout the day. For lunch they come to the Club, where members of the IWCcand IAWC will prepare lunch for the approximately 50 students and advisors. WisItalia, Inc. will provide funds for the lunch. On Saturday, March 10, starting at 6:00 PM is our almost annual Sauce Tasting and Pasta Dinner at the Club. Dan Malone is Chair and needs sauces plus workers. Only members of the IWC and IAWC can submit sauces to be judged. Sauces can be made with meat but cannot be served with meat. Cost is $5.00 per person, which includes a pasta dinner. On Wednesday, March 21, starting at 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM is the first annual Greenbush Day. A committee of UW staff, staff from Meriter and St. Mary’s plus the IWC, is planning this event. Students from Randall School last year had the City Council pass a resolution honoring the Greenbush by establishing a Greenbush Day. All activities will be held in the new UW Welcome Center on Park Street. On Saturday, March 31, starting at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Church is our spring Corn Party hosted by the IWC and IAWC. Please contact Tom Germanotta to assist. All IWC members received a copy of the proposed By-Laws of the Club. Please read these and send your comments to me at falfano@charter.net or at the Club. We will be discussing only submitted comments at our March 20 membership meeting. This is the first time the By-Laws have been reviewed since 1986 so your input is welcomed. The City of Madison has appointed a committee of neighborhood residents, landowners and businesses on Regent Street to be part of a Regent Street South Campus Development Plan for the future of Regent Street. The IWC is not part of the committee, but we will have representatives at each meeting to insure we are involved in any decision. If you are interested in their progress to date, please go to the City of Madison website www.cityofmadison.com. The next public meeting for this Plan is Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 at the Neighborhood House. All members of the IWC received an allotment of raffle tickets to either sell or purchase. These tickets are essential to the overall financial success to Festa and our
scholarship program. As my letter stated this is your Club and it needs your support not only by working at Festa but also by selling the raffle tickets you received. We do track the sale of tickets by each number so if you send your tickets back without selling them, please enclose a note as to why. If you are physically unable to sell the tickets, we understand but if you can, please sell them ASAP. If you have any questions about Club activities or the Club in general, please do not
